Due to its bold design, animal print is most often teamed with neutral colours including black, white and beige. That isn't to say though that an animal print dress wouldn't look great paired with a bold colour for a statement finish.

Animal print may not be the first style that springs to mind when you think of the royals, but Princess Kate, Meghan Markle, Zara Tindall and Queen Letizia have all been spotted in the versatile print over the years.

The Princess of Wales most recently wore animal print in March, and the royal looked so stylish in the Cefinn green leopard print midi dress teamed with a pair of white heels.

Looking for an animal print dress that's perfect for day-to-night? New Look's midaxi dress is it. Featuring a halterneck, a pretty tie back, and a tiered skirt, the flattering frock would look just as stylish teamed with a pair of sandals as it would with heels and a clutch bag – and it's available to shop in sizes 6-22.

Marks & Spencer's animal print dress features a midi cut and a V-neck with a relaxed fit, tying in at the waist with an elasticated design for added shaping. The feminine puffed sleeves are finished with elasticated cuffs and tie detailing that perfectly rounds off the vintage-style appearance. We love the green leopard print for daytime wear, and the midi would look so lovely teamed with a pair of white or gold heels for an elegant summer ensemble.

Mango's animal print dress is giving pure elegance with its collared design and neutral snake print. It's available in sizes 4-26, with a tummy-flattering wrap finish and long cuffed sleeves. We recommend styling the shirt dress with a pair of black heels for a sophisticated work look.

New Look's animal print dress would suit just about any occasion with its tiered hem and statement sleeves. The ruched V-neck is so flattering on the bust area, transitioning into the short sleeves that are finished with tie detailing. Style the look with espadrille sandals in the summer, transitioning into trainers or heeled boots as the weather gets cooler.

For a daytime dress that you'll want to reach for every summer, we love Nobody's Child's cheetah print midi. The smock style is comfortable for all-day wear, which contrasts with the shirred bodice that enhances the silhouette. The exaggerated balloon sleeves give a statement finish, complete with cut-out detailing at the back. Style with a pair of Birkenstock sandals and black sunglasses for an effortless daywear look.

On the hunt for a shorter style? Try H&M's zebra print mini dress. The halterneck twists at the front to tie at the back, creating a stunning ripple effect across the dress. The loose A-line fit is perfectly complemented by the open back, and we'd team the mini dress with a pair of brightly coloured shoes for a glam evening style.

Reformation has so many slinky dresses that are on our wishlist, and we could see this animal print number worn for date night or holiday evenings out. It features a fitted design, a scoop back and thin adjustable straps, and we'd wear it with flat sandals or a pair of strappy white heels.

The Amy Lynn animal print dress from ASOS comes in the most velvet fabric, with a figure-hugging shape and a high neck. The sleeveless design falls to the ankle, and the pink zebra print design gives it a statement finish. Wear it with a pair of platform heels or silver ballet flats to complete the look.

Karen Millen is filled with glam evening dresses, and this yellow column dress is guaranteed to turn heads. The halterneck and open back are brought together with the elegant tie back, with flirty cut-outs at the waist to complete the look. The sunshine yellow midi is finished with the subtle animal print and a leg-slit at the back.
